Mitt Romney let persons close to him know that he wasn't going to the inauguration and it was doubtful he'd even watch it. I agree with Lawrence O'Donnell and can understand why Mitt wouldn't want to attend. What I find distasteful is that the ex-Governor would share that sentiment with anyone else save his wife and family pet. In what seems to be an arc of American history that is certainly the most partisan in my recollection and lifetime, it's too bad that Willard couldn't have taken the higher road. It reminds me of unsportsmanlike behavior at middle school that most people grow out of when they reach adulthood. It seems to follow a pattern that I believe comes from a Republican Party that has disdain for people that aren't of their closed loop socioeconomic cabal.
I will admit to being an angry camper during 8 years of W, but I was not dismissive of the population who elected him. I guess I can thank Mittens for exhibiting behavior that I find deplorable and will do my duty to never exhibit that behavior myself.
I'm hoping that our nation will be able to forge ahead in an ever increasingly hostile place for legislation to happen. May we look to the least fortunate among us and see that they are our future and not our liability. May we make the hard decisions and sacrifices that will ensure a bright future for those who follow us in time.
