the inaugeration.
To say that I am usually the youngest person in the room when I have an appointment at the VA is an understatement. In the past, Fox was the channel of choice for the folks waiting to see their doctor. I always dread my visits, because in addition to dealing with the pain from my treatments, I have to listen to ill-informed comments by my fellow veterans. Imagine my surprise at what I am overhearing today. More below.
So far I have had to sit in three different waiting rooms and not one TV is set to Fox. Additionally, while there have been comments about the cost of the inauguration yesterday, and the ensuing "tut, tutting" I was shocked when one older gentlemen proceeded to discuss with the others near him about how much the republicans have cost this country through their intransigence causing interest rates to increase. I am not getting into the veracity of his statement, but the fact that the conversation took place at all is astounding to me.
This is a VA facility in a state that is becoming more red with each election cycle. In the past I have had to listen to how "Hussein" is destroying this country, to hearing the above mentioned discussion. I am cautiously optimistic.
Change is happening, slowly, but it is occurring. When the Fox generation is having a conversation about republicans costing this country money and there is no dispute from others in the room, then that is progress. Limited it may be be, but progress none the less, anytime the conversation is about republicans failing to do their job and not on that "Marxist, socialist, fascist, destroying democracy", then we're off to a good start.
I just wanted to share this little bit of good news today.
P. S. I am doing this from my iPad, so my apologies for the lack of quality control.
