FoxNation (Click) has a post by Matthew Cooper (of Valerie Plame scandal fame) written for the Natonal Journal. It is a list of seven reasons Republicans can be hopeful. In short form they are:
1: The Economy - improving but still crappy. But The GOP can't expect to get much from this so maybe this is a wash.
2: 2014 is 2006 for the Democrats! What happened before will always happen, except when it didn't because republicans made a mess of impeachment.
3: Immigration. Dear God, please Marco save us from ourselves. We don't want to address this issue, we just want it to go AWAY!
4: Gay Marriage - Lets be so quiet people think we're Democrats.
5: Let's compromise with Democrats every now and then and people will like us!
6: Certainly no one who has raised taxes on the wealth would have the affrontery to do it again!
7: Remember, we can always stop saying the word "rape" whenever we want to. Lets start … now!
So, as you can see, the list of things republicans can be hopeful for is some qualified wishful thinking, several capitulations to democrats, and some agreements to not say the quiet part loud again. If I were a republican, I wouldn't be too hopeful after reading this. The commenters on National Journal certainly weren't.
