OK... I lied.
It's not shocking; its what you would anticipate from a republican who shot a man in the face "accidentally" and even got him to apologize for it.
FOX News, of course, just HAD to seek out the former Vice President.
And they found him at
the Safari Club International convention for gun owners and manufacturers, where the former vice president and his daughter, Liz, participated in a discussion about gun rights and the realism of torture in the film “Zero Dark Thirty.”
Dick advised that he was concerned about Obama's package:
“I find especially in groups like the group here and an awful lot of my folks in Wyoming who supported me all those years in Congress are very, very concerned that there isn’t adequate regard for the rights of law-abiding citizens,” he added. “We understand that there’s clearly an effort underway, but one of the things we’ve done in Wyoming — with respect to Jackson Hole, where I live, with respect to safety of schools — we have a deputy sheriff, armed deputy sheriff at the schools in the city. And that’s probably a more effective deterrent than anything that Congress seems to be debating at the present time.”
So in one raspy breath, he repeats the talking points of "not enough respect for law abiding folks" (I read that as Second Amendmenters...) and the armed po-leece in the schools is the 'best deterrent".
Cheney then cited Obama's "Consititutional blunder' in the form of improper recess appointments and lamented that rules weren't followed.
So yeah, the Dark One was sought out by the Republican's TV station to regurgitate republican talking points, protect guns, smear Obama, and have the gall to whine about 'lack of constitutional precision' with great economy of speech, WHILE gloating over the realism of the torture in a current popular movie to an audience interested in profiting off gun sales.
Thought you'd enjoy that....
