Memphis, Tenn. -- A 4-year-old boy died after he found a gun and accidentally shot himself while his mother was asleep in their apartment on Monday.
Oakdale, Minn. -- A 9-year-old boy was shot dead and his mother wounded when a 33-year-old man apparently began to randomly fire at vehicles about 6:10 p.m. Monday. A woman in another vehicle was also wounded. The suspect was in custody. Both women are expected to recover.
New Orleans, La. -- A 22-year-old man was shot in the head on Tuesday about 6:15 p.m. He later died at a local hospital.
Bethel Township, Del. -- On Monday, the son of an 89-year-old man and his 91-year-old wife found the couple shot dead, the result of a murder-suicide. Police did not say who fired the gun.
College Park, Md. -- After a 23-year-old graduate student at a university tried to start a fire in his residence, he used a 9mm handgun to shoot and kill a 22-year-old male roommate and wound another 22-year-old male roommate before using the weapon to kill himself. Police later found a semiautomatic Uzi rifle with ammunition, a machete, and a baseball bat in the gunman’s shoulder-pack. Family members said the shooter was taking medication for a diagnosed mental illness. He was able to legally buy both the handgun and the Uzi, according to police.
Midvale, Utah, -- Police found three people shot dead -- two men and a woman -- and another woman injured, in a house about 8 a.m. yesterday. Police are looking for two suspects. The wounded woman was listed in serious condition.
Miami, Fla. -- Two armed intruders entered a home last night and held a man and his wife at gunpoint. When one of the gunmen tried to enter a room where the man’s 11-year-old daughter was sleeping, he got into a struggle with the intruders. A gun went off and the father was struck and killed.
Jersey City, N.J. -- Someone was shot and killed in the doorway of a multi-family building late yesterday. A neighbor said the victim appeared to be a young male.
Washington, D.C. -- A 19-year-old man was found fatally shot about 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
Orlando, Fla. -- Two men, ages 21 and 22, were found shot dead inside a home yesterday afternoon.
St. Louis, Mo. -- A 33-year-old man was found fatally shot on a train platform about 11:40 p.m. yesterday. He had been shot in the stomach.
West Palm Beach, Fla. -- A man in his early 20s was shot on a street and killed about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Indianapolis, Ind. -- A 38-year-old man was fatally shot while on the phone with his wife as he backed his vehicle out of his driveway about 8 a.m. today. His wife, who was away from home, called 911 after hearing a scuffle and sounds of her husband in distress. Police are trying to determine if the shooting might be related to recent robberies in the area.
Alameda, Calif. -- A 40-year-old man was shot in the back while attempting to get to his gun when two male robbers entered his residence about 7:25 p.m. Monday. The victim was in critical condition.
Caldwell, Idaho -- A 34-year-old man was shot by his 41-year-old wife during a domestic dispute. The incident began as the couple argued Sunday and he told his wife to shoot him. Thinking the gun was unloaded, she pointed it at him and pulled the trigger to scare him with the sound of the trigger click. The gun fired, striking the man. He is hospitalized in intensive care and she was arrested.
Harris County, Tex. -- A female clerk was shot and wounded during a robbery at a food store around 9 p.m. last night. No report on her condition.
El Paso County, Colo. -- A 33-year-old man was shot in the back at a party yesterday morning. A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting. The victim was listed in serious but stable condition.
Chicago, Ill. -- A 16-year-old boy was shot in the back on a street about 5 p.m. Monday. A witness saw a gunman fire two or three shots before running into an nearby alley. The victim was listed in critical condition.
New Orleans, La. -- Two women were shot, one of them in the stomach, outside a restaurant about 8:15 p.m. yesterday. No report on the condition of the two victims.
Akron, Ohio -- A 21-year-old woman in a van with at least five other people was shot by a gun fired from inside the vehicle. She is in critical condition.
Dallas, Tex. -- A 33-year-old man was shot in the ankle in a drive-by shooting early this morning. The victim said the shooters were men he had gotten into a shouting match with earlier at a bar.
Lochearn, Md. -- A man was found shot on a street about 8:15 p.m. yesterday. His injuries were reported as serious and potentially life-threatening.
Chelsea, Ala. -- A man with a gun entered a middle school about 3:10 p.m. yesterday and held several students against their will in a girl’s locker room. Details were still sketchy, but it was reported that, at some point, a gym teacher stepped in front of the gunman and told the students to get out of the room. The teacher then called the police. The suspect -- a former student at the school and former part-time summer help employee -- is in custody.
Middletown, Conn. -- A 56-year-old man is accused of threatening two snow-plow drivers with a loaded shotgun about 3:40 p.m. Friday, apparently because he was unhappy they were pushing snow onto his property during a blizzard. The drivers were clearing snow from a nearby condo complex.
Franklin Lakes, N.J. -- A single rifle round went through a home sometime between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say the shot appears to have come from a wooded area behind the house. The bullet struck the back of the house, then it went completely through the structure and exited out the front. No one was hurt.
Nashville, Tenn. -- A handgun was found in a student’s backpack at a middle school on Monday.

Wilmington, Del. -- A man in his 50s or 60s walked into the public lobby of a courthouse about 8 a.m. today and opened fire killing two women -- one of them believed to be his estranged wife. He also wounded two police officers. The man died from a gunshot wound, but authorities were not yet sure if it was from police fire or self-inflicted. The officer’s wounds were considered non life-threatening.
Kiln, Miss. -- A 20-year-old woman was killed by her 21-year-old brother at their home yesterday evening after she tried to break up an argument between him and his ex-girlfriend.
Trenton, N.J. -- A young man was shot and killed and found lying on a sidewalk around 2:30 p.m. Police have not yet released any information, but several local residents say he was a 16-year-old boy.
Price, Utah -- A 37-year-old man fatally shot his 32-year-old wife before shooting and killing himself about 3 a.m. yesterday. The four children in the house -- a 13-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, and twin 7-year-old girls -- were unharmed.
Marrero, La. -- A 58-year-old man was shot and killed about 3 a.m. today. No other information was available.
Tulsa, Okla. -- A 22-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head at an apartment complex about 7:30 p.m. yesterday. A 25-year-old woman who knew the victim was arrested on a complaint of first degree murder.
Chester, Penn. -- About 9:30 a.m. yesterday, a 22-year-old man was found lying face down in back of a home with fatal gunshots wounds to the back and buttocks.
Atlantic City, N.J. -- A 25-year-old man was shot and killed outside a restaurant about 7:30 p.m. yesterday.
Houston, Tex. -- A 25-year-old man was fatally shot multiple times in his bed during a home invasion about 4 a.m. yesterday. After hearing the shots, the victim’s grandparent’s came out of their bedroom and confronted the shooter, who pointed a gun at the grandmother before fleeing the house.
Clayton County, Ga. -- A 21-year-old man was arrested for shooting three people in the parking lot of a crowded restaurant early Sunday after an argument between two groups of people in the restaurant spilled outside. The victim’s injuries were considered non life-threatening.
Gilmer County, Ga. -- Three people were shot and wounded when gunfire erupted after four men showed up at a home to collect a debt about 11:30 a.m. yesterday. Two of the men were shot in the head and a woman at the home was wounded.
New Orleans, La. -- A man was shot multiple times while inside a residence about 3:50 a.m. today. He was listed in critical condition. No other details were available.

Highland, Ill. -- A 55-year-old woman shot a 33-year-old man twice about 3:30 a.m. yesterday after he forced his way into her apartment and threw her to the floor before putting her 47-year-old sister in a choke hold and demanding money. The intruder was in critical condition.
Chehalis, Wash -- A 24-year-old man shot and wounded a 51-year-old man who entered his residence about 5 a.m. yesterday, then he held the intruder at gunpoint until police arrived. The intruder was to be held for investigation for burglary and assault. He is in stable condition.
Tampa, Fla. -- A deliveryman was robbed and shot Sunday night by two men who approached him with a gun after he dropped off a pizza at an apartment complex. He is in stable condition.
Twin Falls, Idaho -- A man who was shot and wounded told the police it was his brother that fired the gun. The victim is in stable condition.
Spring Valley, Calif. -- A victim showed up at a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds early yesterday morning. A short time earlier police had responded to shots fired outside a bar, but no one there appeared to be involved.
Detroit, Mich. -- A state trooper was shot in the leg while searching for suspected robbers in an abandoned house around 4 a.m. today. Two suspects have been arrested. The trooper was reported as “doing fine” and expected to recover.
Little Rock, Ark. -- A 25-year-old man entering a house was shot in the leg by someone outside the residence around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. A car was heard speeding off after the shooting. The victim’s injury was described as serious but he was expected to survive.
Little Rock, Ark. -- A man getting into a car was shot in the back about 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Doctors said the victim, shot five times, was expected to survive, although he appeared to be paralyzed from the chest down.
Dauphin Borough, Penn. -- A 55-year-old man scheduled for sentencing in court today on burglary charges told his wife he did not want to go to jail and grabbed a rifle. Police then talked to him for about 45 minutes until a gunshot was heard and they discovered the man accidentally shot himself in the arm.
Little Rock, Ark. -- Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe this afternoon signed the so-called Guns in Churches bill into law. The law gives individual churches the right to allow guns inside their buildings.

Tyler, Tex. -- An argument that began inside a mall and then spilled out into the parking lot ended when a 25-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and killed by a 23-year-old man yesterday morning. The shooter has been arrested.
Conroe, Tex. -- A 35-year-old man went into a big-box department store where his wife worked, then sat on a bench at the pharmacy department and committed suicide by pulling out a handgun and shooting himself in the head. Police believe the couple had marital problems.
Detroit, Mich. -- A 32-year-old woman was found shot to death and slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle on an interstate highway about 3:40 a.m. yesterday.
Conway, Ark. -- Police investigating a wrecked pick-up truck on an interstate highway discovered the driver had been shot and killed. Police believe a passing motorist shot the victim as he was driving.
Queens, N.Y. -- A 27-year-old man was shot in the chest and killed by one of two men who approached him as he walked out of a liquor store about 9:40 p.m. yesterday.
Durham, N.C. -- A 24-year-old man was shot to death in the parking lot of a crowded mall about 1 p.m. yesterday. Three men -- two 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old -- all acquaintances of the victim, have been charged with murder.
Oakland, Calif. -- A man was shot to death on a street about 10:30 p.m. yesterday. No other information was available.
Caldwell, Idaho -- A 59-year-old man was shot multiple times and killed at his home. Police are holding a 34-year-old woman on suspicion of murder and grand theft.
Phoenix, Ariz. -- A 36-year-old man arriving home about 11 a.m. Friday found four men ransacking the property. Two of the intruders fled the home through a carport. The other two came out of a bedroom area and when one of them -- a 16-year-old male -- came at the homeowner, he pulled out a gun from a holster in his waistband and shot the intruder, killing him.
Cleveland, Ohio -- A 41-year-old man found lying dead in his driveway about 10 p.m. yesterday had been shot multiple times.
Montgomery, Ala. -- A man was found shot to death at a motel. No other details available.
Independence, Mo. -- A 31-year-old man faces first-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action after he accidentally shot his 46-year-old girlfriend in the stomach at his home about noon yesterday. The woman died later at a local hospital. The man did not think the gun was loaded.
Colorado Springs, Colo. -- A 29-year-old man was shot dead at a motel about 9:30 a.m. yesterday. Police are looking for a 25-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
Riverton, Utah -- A man cleaning a handgun in a home with several friends shot one of them in the stomach when the gun accidentally fired about 2 p.m. yesterday. The victim’s injuries appeared to be non life-threatening.
Philadelphia, Penn. -- On a street just before midnight last night, a 25-year-old man was found shot six times -- twice in the buttocks and once each in the chest, thigh, face, and head. He was listed in critical condition.

Police believe the incident was related to an argument that broke out between several people in the crowd. One of the victims was wounded in the abdomen, thigh and pelvis. Houston, Tex. -- The owner of a coffee bar and game room, believed to be in his late 40s, was shot and killed about 3:30 p.m. yesterday when he pulled out a handgun and fired at two armed men attempting to rob him. The would be robbers fled, although police believe they might be wounded.
Birmingham, Ala. -- A 22-year-old-man died at a local hospital yesterday afternoon after being found shot and unconscious in a car stopped at a traffic signal light.
Fort Washington, Md. -- A 27-year-old man was brought to a fire station fatally shot about 12:20 a.m. yesterday.
Reno, Nev. -- A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed and another person was grazed in the head after a drive-by shooting about 2 p.m. Friday.
Parma, Ohio -- A 29-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the hand while cleaning a handgun at his home about 11:30 p.m. on January 25. The bullet went through the man’s hand, then it continued on through a window and into the ground in his yard.
Colorado Springs, Colo. -- A woman entering the passenger seat of her boyfriend’s vehicle early today knocked his loaded handgun off the seat and onto the floor where it discharged and sent a bullet through both of her calves. The wounds are non-life-threatening.

East Ridge, Tenn. -- About 4:30 a.m. today, a man shot and wounded his 34-year-old former boyfriend who was breaking into his home. Sometime earlier, when the two had words at a big-box department store, the ex-boyfriend had threaten to come to his home and kill the man. No word on his condition.
New York, N.Y. -- About 3 p.m. Thursday, a 13-year-old boy used a 9 mm handgun to shoot across a street at a 14-year-old boy who had recently jumped him. No one was hit. The boy was expected to be held at juvenile detention facility.
Memphis, Tenn. -- A gunfight erupted outside an elementary school Thursday morning. The incident began as a woman dropped off her young children and was approached by the children's 35-year-old father. The parents began to argue and when the man pushed her, the woman stabbed him in the arm. He then retrieved a handgun from his car and fired four shots at the woman. That prompted a 19-year-old man who was with the woman to pull out a gun and return fire. Both shooters were arrested.
Nashville, Tenn. -- A man was shot and wounded in the parking lot of a restaurant about 7:20 p.m. yesterday after he was approached by three man in ski masks demanding money. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Cape Girardeau, Mo. -- A 43-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were found fatally shot late yesterday. Both victims were shot several times. Police found a man hiding in a nearby alley and arrested him after a foot chase.
Kokomo, Ind. -- A 21-year-old woman was found shot dead in a home about 9:30 p.m. yesterday.
Cleveland, Ohio -- A 16-year-old girl was fatally shot multiple times in the back yard of her home about 12:10 a.m. today. The girl’s father found her after he went to her bedroom to check on her after hearing gunshots outside the house. A 16-year-old boy who knew the girl was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Avondale, Ariz. -- Police found a man shot to death in a home around 9 p.m. yesterday. Police are searching for the suspect.
Bend, Or. -- A 47-year-old man was accidentally shot in the stomach by his 48-year-old wife when a .22-caliber handgun fell out of her pocket and fired when it hit the floor while they were in a fast-food restaurant yesterday along with about 15 other patrons. The victim was listed in serious condition.
Jacksonville, Fla. -- A man and woman were shot on a street by a gunman about 11:30 p.m. yesterday. The man was hit multiple times and his condition was reported as life-threatening. The woman was shot in the foot; her condition was not reported.
Chicago, Ill. -- A 29-year-old man was shot in the lower abdomen at a bar about 2 a.m. today. He was in critical condition.
Chicago, Ill. -- Four men -- an 18-year-old, a 41-year-old, and two 28-year-olds -- were wounded by gunfire about 3:15 p.m. yesterday while standing in the doorway of a corner grocery store near a bus stop when two vehicles pulled up and shots were fired from both of them. The 18-year-old's condition was listed as stabilized, the others are in good condition.
Horn Lake, Tenn. -- Two male teenagers, ages 15 and 18, were shot and wounded by a 20-year-old male about 6 p.m. yesterday. Two groups of teens and young adults began exchanging words when the suspect, who was with one of the groups, pulled out a gun and began shooting. Both victims were reported to have non-critical wounds.
Nampa, Idaho -- A 43-year-old man saw a male stranger in his friend's backyard and went outside to confront him. A struggle ensued and the man was stabbed and then shot in the leg with his own gun before the attacker ran away. It was not clear who fired the gun during the struggle.

Forest Meadows, Calif. -- A 54-year-old man shot and killed his 17-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter with a Glock 9mm handgun before turning the weapon on himself late last week.
Plymouth, Wis. -- A 59-year-old woman found dead in a barn about 8:30 a.m. yesterday was apparently shot by a male neighbor who later shot and wounded himself. He was listed in critical condition.
Los Angeles, Calif. -- A former Los Angeles police officer wanted for the murder of a man and woman last Sunday has allegedly shot and killed a Riverside, Calif. police officer and wounded police officers from Riverside and Los Angeles. A manhunt is underway.
O’Fallon, Mo. -- A 55-year-old woman was found dead at a home about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. She had been shot multiple times in the head. Police are looking for her 63-year-old ex-boyfriend.
Jacksonville, Fla. -- A 46-year-old man was fatally shot while driving on a city street in what might have been a case of road rage. He was found in the driver’s seat of a crashed pickup about 7:50 p.m. Police are looking for a vehicle seen following the man.
Sandpoint, Idaho -- A confrontation of some sort about 6 p.m. Wednesday has left a 36-year-old man fatally shot and a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm. No word on the condition of the wounded man.
Granite Falls, N.C. -- A shooting about 6:30 p.m. today has left one person dead. Police are questioning a person of interest.
Houston, Tex. -- A man found shot and lying on the ground outside an apartment complex about midnight last night later died at a hospital. He had been shot several times.
Cleveland, Oh. -- A 22-year-old man was shot and killed about 8:40 p.m. yesterday. He had been shot several times
Philadelphia, Penn. -- A 23-year-old man is dead after he was shot at least once in the chest in a second-floor apartment Wednesday night.
Washington, D.C. -- A security guard was shot when a 28-year-old man armed with a 9 mm handgun entered the headquarters of a lobbying group and began verbally expressing opposition to the organization’s policies. The guard and others nearby managed to subdue the intruder until police arrived. He was listed in stable condition.
Plainfield, Ind. -- A man was shot at an apartment complex Wednesday night. Police later pulled over a car matching the description of a vehicle spotted leaving the scene. No word on the victim’s condition.
New Orleans, La. -- A man was shot multiple times around 11 a.m. yesterday.
No report on the man's condition.
Buena Vista Township, Mich. -- A 5-year-old boy and his 46-year-old grandfather were shot during a robbery about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. A man approached the grandfather and his wife in the driveway of a home and demanded money before opening fire, striking the grandfather. One of the bullets went through a wall of the house and struck the boy in the leg. The boy was hospitalized. The grandfather was treated at a hospital and released.
Camarillo, Calif. -- A 22-year-old male was injured by gunfire. He was treated and released from a local hospital.
Little Rock, Ark. -- One person was reported shot at an apartment complex today. Police are searching for a suspect. No other details are available.
Miami, Fla. -- A robber yanked a gold chain off the neck of an 82-year-old man sitting in his front yard yesterday morning before shooting him in the leg and fleeing. No word on the victim’s condition.
Chicago, Ill. -- A 23-year-old man was shot in the back of his thigh about 6:55 p.m. yesterday. He had exchanged words with three others when one of the three opened fire with a handgun. The victim was in stable condition.
Chicago, Ill. -- A 22-year-old man was shot in the arm about 1:30 p.m. yesterday. No word on his condition.
Orlando, Fla. -- Two people were shot and wounded after someone opened fire and sprayed their vehicle as they drove away from a nightclub about 4:50 a.m. this morning. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Tempe, Ariz. -- Five schools were put on lockdown while police searched for a suspect who fired shots at a car on the freeway in an apparent road-rage incident about 1:20 p.m. today. Police have one person in custody and are looking for another.
Charlotte, N.C. -- A 15-year-old high school student was arrested for bringing a loaded handgun to school in his backpack.
