Yeah, my last diary wasn't too popular. I don't expect this one to be, either, but it's worth writing anyway because the DailyKos is, at least in theory, a fact-based community.
A couple of days ago, Christopher Gettler's deposition video was making the rounds on the blogosphere, supposedly justifying Christopher Jordan Dorner's actions. If you haven't seen it, watch it here:
Let me direct your attention to 1:21 to 1:53 of the video. I'm not going to transcribe the entire thing--I really just want to focus on those thirty seconds of it (given that it's only two minutes and fourteen seconds long, that's actually about 20% of it).
QUESTIONER (RANDY QUAN): Do you remember if they were white or black?
GETTLER: Black... err... they were almost black... And I was almost white...
QUESTIONER: Do you remember if the female had light-colored hair or dark hair?
GETTLER: She had darker hair... No, her hair was a, her hair was a light, lighter shade. Darker.
This is something of a problem for Dorner's case. According to Dorner's manifesto, he witnessed his training officer, Teresa Evans, kick Christopher Gettler in the face.
However, according to The Los Angeles Time, "[Sergeant Teresa] Evans is listed in department and court records as white with blond hair."
She is not "black" or "almost black".
Make of this what you will, but it poses a serious problem. The alleged victim can't clearly identify the race of the woman who allegedly kicked him in the face.
I'm not going to go into speculations about why he might have misidentified her race. The DailyKos is, putatively, a fact-based community, so I'm just going to leave this diary with this fact and let you draw your own conclusions.
