I'm looking for Che Guevara. I'm also looking for Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Gandhi, Frederick Douglass, Malcom X, Mario Savio, Genevieve Clark, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and William Lloyd Garrison.
Where are you guys? Yes, we have Matt Taibbi and Chris Hedges, Naomi Wolf and Bill Moyers, Amy Goodman, Jeremy Scahill, Noam Chomsky and Markos Moulitsas, and many, many other great thinkers, activists, journalists, philosophers, and benefactors, but it doesn't seem to be enough against the onslaught of the well-funded and well-organized fascistic right wing.
We're heading into a very dark period, and it's all happening by design. It's manufactured-crisis period.
The parasitic fascistic billionaires and their groups have have pretty much completed a process that took decades. The mission is almost accomplished. Everything else is just noise. People are being distracted with this debate about sequesters and the raising of the debt limit, and all the dastardly things that are happening.
That's all subterfuge, smokescreens. If you are able to see through it, what's happening becomes much more clear: You are being robbed in broad daylight. Your "democracy," or what's left of it, is being held right now at the bottom of the bathtub, under water, about to expire. What "they" meant when they said they wanted to "shrink [government] down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub" was in actual reference to "democracy."
The fascist parasitic billionaires and their groups have taken enough control of the government to either use it as an enrichment tool, or to render it totally dysfunctional and incapable of serving the people.
And while all this is happening, they are also putting into place a thuggish paramilitary infrastructure around the country, with the help of the NRA. They know what's going to happen. They are going to create so much chaos and disruption that it is going to adversely affect the most vulnerable people and communities around the country (first). And once that happens, and desperate people turn to crime, the fascist billionaires will have made sure to have in place groups of Christian Right Wing vigilante thugs.
That's why ALEC, Koch Brothers-funded groups, and shadowy business groups and cartels have been pushing so hard for stand-your-ground (license to kill) and conceal-carry (everywhere) laws. They are also financing the hate- and fear-mongering media propaganda to inflame the passions of the wild-eyed gun-toting Dominionist Bible-thumpers and the racist ultra-nationalist extreme right wing.
I don't know if they will be successful, but rest assured that that's their agenda. Once they render democracy totally dysfunctional and destroy the social safety net, then they can consolidate their total domination. Folks, these are truly dangerous people. They are driven by unquenchable greed, megalomania, and a sadistic and psychopathic personality. In one word: Tyrants.
I'm looking to connect with people who are willing to jump out of the almost-boiling water, after realizing they are not frogs.
I'm looking for the type of person who is able to see these things (I describe above) clearly, whether they may be a homeless man in Los Angeles skid row, or a comfortable upper-middle class business professional.
The type of person who sees the urgency of what's happening clearly and has a highly developed sense of empathy (or intelligence) to understand that urgent action is needed regardless of their own personal social and economic condition.
As a young medical student, Guevara traveled throughout South America and was moved by the poverty, hunger and disease he witnessed.
Have you read the book (or watched the film), "
The Motorcycle Diaries?"
The film recounts the 1952 expedition, initially by motorcycle, across South America by Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado. As the adventure, initially centered around youthful hedonism, unfolds, Guevara discovers himself transformed by his observations on the life of the impoverished indigenous peasantry. Through the characters they encounter on their continental trek, Guevara and Granado witness firsthand the injustices that the destitute face and are exposed to people and social classes they would have never encountered otherwise.
What's my point? I'm not calling for a Marxist revolution. I'm calling for a "peaceful" revolution, while there is still time. Massive, relentless, highly organized and focused action is needed right now. Basically, we need an Occupy Wall Street "on steroids," ten times bigger and organized than it ever was. This should have been happening already.
Jump out of the boiling water! The time for action is now. At least make that leap. And then we need to figure out how to get things going, pronto.
All I'm interested in is the reinstallation of the rule of law, which has been subverted, helping to bring about what we have now: a two-tiered legal system; the removal of control over our institutions by criminal corporatist cartels funded by billionaires' money; the revival of democracy and adherence to sound and proven market economic principles, which include the prevention of monopolies, oligopolies, influence peddling by powerful criminal corporatist cartels, and the rise of a plutocracy.
Nothing radical...
What's preventing you from noticing the almost-boiling temperature of the water?
