Washington, D.C. – In response to the inclusion of chained CPI in the president’s FY 2014 budget, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Raúl M. Grijalva and Keith Ellison and other House leaders will hold a press conference declaring their opposition to cutting benefits earned by America’s working families.
Chained CPI will shift costs onto seniors, veterans and working families. Americans already face a difficult economy, and cutting the benefits they have earned will only make getting out of this recession harder for all of us.
