Media has a tough job after disasters like this.
Earlier, Meteor Blades who has a long background in reporting had this important caveat to share:
Now is a good time to remember that... (55+ / 0-)
...first reports are often mistaken (not out of maliciousness or conspiracy), so it's best not to jump to any conclusions.
Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

Conflicting reports are already showing up with early deaths reported from 2 to 12.
Just watched Jed's FP post link to the Boston Police Department press conference.
The official said that the JFK explosion was related.
The following report says it was not.

The director of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum says that a 3 p.m. fire inside the building's mechanical room was not caused by a device and is apparently not related to the explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line.
Its posted as a developing story, and the Boston Police say otherwise.
This is a real human tragedy, as was the accidental gun shooting of a 9 year old girl by a security guard today.
But as I told a friend on Facebook, I refuse to live my life in fear.
I regret both these incidents and my heart goes out to all involved.
But here's another thing.....for sure I don't want to see an unwarranted jump in the national security fear mongering of the type that we have lived with since 9/11.
But what you wanna bet we do, and stat?

JFK Library staff safe, fire out
A John F. Kennedy Presidential Library official released this statement: “The fire at the JFK Library building is out. It appears to have started in the mechanical room of new wing of the building. All staff and visitors are accounted for and safe. Fire investigators are investigating. We have no specific information on damage to the mechanical room. Any tie to Boston Marathon explosions is pure speculation.”
