Peavy Arboretum

Recently I visited the Peavy Arboretum in Corvallis. It ia very lovely area filled with trees, native plants and birds.

Peavy Arboretum(40 acres) is an arboretum operated by Oregon State University and located on Arboretum Road, Corvallis, Oregon. It is open to the public daily without charge.

The arboretum was dedicated by the university in 1926, operated as a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp from 1933–1942, and reverted to College of Forestry management in 1964.[1] While the CCC was active, they planted trees, expanded the nursery, constructed Cronemiller Lake, and built roads, trails, and firebreaks.

It was the typical Oregon gray skies kind of day. Join me over the squiggle for some photos. Post your own if ya have them! ;D

Here we listened and watched as a wren came out from the brush after one of the guides made a bird call noise.

Lush plants lined the path through the woods.

We shared the trail with a banana snail. The guide made a joke that he/she was banana bread making ripe!

Hope that you enjoyed the photos. Sorry that the plant photos are not labled. I have a hearing loss. Some peole in the group talked while the guide talked and I missed the plant names. When this happens, my ears hear static. It is annoying and frustrating.

I suffered a small anxiety attack just minutes into the tour. I waited for the group to pass me, then I made my way back to the park entrance area. Walked around a few miutes to calm down before driving home with the windows down and the cold wind in my face.

Today is also boobiewednesday. Do a self breast exam! #KickCancer!

So how are you? How are the kids, pooties, and woozles? And more importantly, what's for dinner?! Banana Bread anyone? ;D

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
