As many of you know, I am a contractor at a large employer in the Seattle area.  Well today it was made official, my contract will end in mid-June without renewal.  This announcement was made during the weekly staff meeting, and it appears most of my fellow co-workers were in a total state of shock and some looked visibly upset at the news.

More below the Orange Squiggly...

I have been working at this position for 5 and a half years, as a Systems and Data Analyst, specializing in web systems deployment, monitoring and automation tools.  I know the systems backwards and forwards.  I have a lot of history in this project, now I have to impart this wisdom to the greenhorns we recently hired, in a hurry.  How can you teach someone who isn't familiar with the nuances of systems, how to be "present" in the systems, to observe the little things that point to a potential problem.

Well I have had 2 interviews today, one decided already I wasn't a good fit as my network skills are too out of date.  I will find out sometime tomorrow about the other, and have a face2face interview tomorrow afternoon.

I feel the universe is giving me a nudge that it is time to move on, and follow my path.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
