Megyn Kelly Destroys Fox Pundit For Views On Working Moms: ‘What Makes You Dominant And Me Submissive?’
On her Friday segment, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly tore into conservative commenter Erick Erickson over his comments that it is “natural” for women to stick to raising children while men play the primary breadwinner. Erickson drew fire earlier this week for arguing that women who work are “hurting our children, and it’s going to have impact for generations to come.”
Of course, this is on top of Greta Van Susteren laying into these dipshits as well:
Greta Van Susteren Rips Sexist Male Colleagues: 'Have These Men Lost Their Minds?'
Fox News host Greta Van Susteren took aim at several of her male colleagues on Thursday for their comments about women.
...
Van Susteren took to her blog and did not hold back, writing, "Have these men lost their minds? (and these are my colleagues??!! oh brother... maybe I need to have a little chat with them (next thing they will have a segment to discuss eliminating women's right to vote?)"
Not that this appears to be making a damned bit of difference:
Her words fell on seemingly deaf ears, as Erickson continued in the same vein in his radio show on Thursday evening.
Yup, that women/minority outreach thing is just going swimmingly, guys...
Update: Since the lack of a transcript seems to have ruffled a few feathers, here's a link to the full transcript via Media Matters.
Some choice cuts:
"So I'll start with you, Erick. What makes you dominant and me submissive, and who died and made you scientist-in-chief?"
"there is data in the scientific community to suggest that children of homosexual couples who are happily married and are good parents fare no worse than children of heterosexual couples, and there is plenty of data to suggest that children of working moms, as opposed to stay-at-home moms, wind up just as healthy and able to thrive in society than the children of stay-at-home mothers."
"You are judging them. You are, though."
"Just because you have people agree with you doesn't mean it's not offensive."
"I don't think I'm an emo-liberal, and I don't describe myself as a feminist...but I will tell you, I was offended by the piece nonetheless. I didn't like what you wrote one bit, and I do think you are judging people. To me, you sound like somebody who's judging but wants to come out and say, "I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, now let me judge, judge, judge. And by the way, it's science, science, science, it's fact, fact, fact, fact, fact." Well, I mean, I have a whole -- this is a list of studies saying your science is wrong and your facts are wrong. "
And, directly from the Think Progress article linked to above, my favorite bit:
"In this country in the ’50s and ’60s there were huge numbers of people that believed that the children of interracial marriages were biologically inferior and that is why it was illegal for blacks and whites to marry in some states in the country up until 1967. And they said it was science and fact if you were the child of a black father and white mother or vice versa you were inferior and not set up for success. Tell that to Barack Obama."
