The NRA's new ad attacking Joe Manchin for supporting background checks reminded Joe Scarborough of TIME's cover story photo shading of O.J. Simpson's face.
Joe Scarborough on Thursday accused the National Rifle Association of using a shaded picture of President Barack Obama that appears in the gun group’s new ad targeting Sen. Joe Manchin.
“He’s shaded awfully. I think the shading is rather dramatic on the side of his face,” Scarborough said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“It just seems patently obvious what they’re doing,” Scarborough added.
Conservative MSNBC host Joe Scarborough on Thursday paused for seven seconds of silence to shame the National Rifle Association (NRA) after he decided that the lobbying group’s new advertisement had unfairly darkened a photo of President Barack Obama the same way that Time magazine “shaded” O.J. Simpson’s mug shot in 1994.
In a new 30-second ad attacking West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D) for supporting expanded background checks, the NRA shows the senator with two photoshopped images of Obama, who is black, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is Jewish.
The Morning Joe crew followed with second seven seconds of silence then showed the ad:
“Let’s just look at this and let it breath for a few seconds. This picture and the photoshopping brought to you by the National Rifle Association of Wayne LaPierre.” -

If a reminder of the infamous cover is needed:
Morning Joe is taking
heat for being a RINO on the liberal MSNBC from conservatives. Here's hoping this ad totally backfires on the NRA.
