There shock in europe after DER SPIEGEL revealed that NSA was spying european allies continues. In fact, there is escalation of the european reaction to the spying of the EU, with both the French Prime minister and the German chancellor reacting.
The diplomatic fallout over allegations the National Security Agency spied on European Union institutions threatened to escalate on Monday as Germany said it was summoning the U.S. ambassador over the breach in trust.
French President Francois Hollande said it must "immediately stop", while a spokesman for Germany's Angela Merkel said "bugging friends is unacceptable".But the most remarkable request was made by the French and German green parties. These parties have a substantial power and presence in the european parliament. In fact in the past the German green party had been in governing coalitions.
"Someone like that should be protected," said Juergen Trittin, leader of Germany's Greens.
"He should get safe haven here in Europe because he has done us a service by revealing a massive attack on European citizens and companies. Germany, as part of Europe, could do that."
