Tuesday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Ok, we have a current diary schedule. If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

Bacon and eggs.
I've been thinking about them,
talking about them,
planning on them,
for about a week now.
I kept putting them off,
but just now,
I finally took a few bites.
This is the way I cook bacon and eggs:
First,
I work at a supermarket,
a Walmart,
as you know,
so I certainly have the time to look for the best bargain.
I buy the bacon ends and pieces;
I get a three pound package for $7.88,
a much better price than pretty bacon.
I buy the box of sixty eggs,
that's 5 dozen,
also, coincidentally,
priced at $7.88.
I just gotta do the division:
$7.88/3 = $2.63 per pound of bacon.
$7.88/5 = $1.58 per dozen eggs.
For the actual cooking
of the bacon and eggs:
First,
I had to scrub the dried on cheese
off my 10" Tramontina stainless steel skillet,
purchased at my Walmart at a clearance price,
when I was alone,
late in 2008,
only months after my first wife, Pam died.
After I scrubbed out the skillet,
and cleaned up the pancake turner,
I fired up the hotplate,
and brought the bacon and eggs into the bedroom,
the 12' x 14' room where Tonia and I live.
I sliced off one small corner of the bacon package,
and diced that bacon up into very small pieces,
threw it all in the hot skillet,
and stirred it for a few minutes,
til it turned a fairly dark brown.
I scooped all the bacon out with the slotted turner,
and put it all in the middle of a paper plate.
Then I pulled the trash can over next to the hot plate,
and cracked seven eggs into the hot bacon fat.
When they were fairly solid on the bottom,
I turned them all over, one by one.
Just a minute or so later,
I turned off the hotplate,
and unplugged it from the power strip,
and piled the seven eggs right on top of the bacon bits.
I may eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
and milk
for dessert.
By the way,
in case you're wondering,
no,
I can't polish off all seven eggs,
drenched in bacon fat,
at one sitting.
I'll put my leftovers in a baggie,
throw the baggie in my lunch box,
and eat them at work tomorrow,
warmed up on a paper plate in the company microwave.
I burn off a lot of calories at work.
In the spirit of this diary series,
the way the rest of you've been doing it lately,
I have to ask:
What's one of your favorite meals?
Especially,
a rich, high calorie treat,
to share with the rest of us?
And what does it cost you per pound or per dozen?
Have a great day,
but great or not,
tell us about it.
We're here to listen.
