The New York Times is reporting that Equifax has been hired to screen applications for subsidies for health insurance. According to the NYT they will use credit report and credit application information in their screens.

I don't even know if I would get a subsidy, but it is really chilling to me to have these credit reporting companies involved in this. I don't have a problem providing my income information to the government, they have it all anyway, but being required to put even more of my personal information in the hands of a credit reporting agency is wrong.
