Meet Police Chief Mark Kessler, who has a YouTube Channel devoted to obscenity laden, homophobic rants punctuated by automatic weapons fire. This includes the most recent video he put up to apologize for previous videos that offended people. That one ends with him saying, "Fuck all you libtards out there, you take it in the ass!".
In addition to last week's video titled "Shoot a Libtard Out of a Tree :)", he features videos where he uses a picture of Nancy Pelosi for target practice, rants about that "cocksucker" Secretary of State John Kerry for his presumed support of an alleged UN plot to take away our guns, and links to -- James Yeager's channel. You remember James Yeager. He was the law-abiding patriot who threatened to start killing people.
Here's the thing. That self-inflicted wound? He did that in 2011! After that, he was put on leave due to his self-inflicted wound. They had an opportunity to make that leave permanent, but he is apparently back on the force. It would be a tragedy if this knucklehead had to kill someone before people took the risk seriously.
Lest you think I am exaggerating the risk to public safety posed by a guy who clearly has it in for Democrats and gays, here's one example of his madness in all its glory:
Some may argue he is exercising his first and second amendment rights here. We'll overlook the potential violation of machine gun laws and assume he actually has a legitimate legal license to use this out of uniform in ways not connected with his official duties. After all, he is clearly not in uniform and this could just be him voicing his personal opinion as a God-fearing, blue-blooded, free, white, American male. However, he then posts under this video an explanation for his "apology"
for those of you who found my Kerry, UN, video inappropriate , please watch this video, I would like to express my sincere apologies for hurting your feeling

Remind me why we are supposed to "respect the culture" when it breeds this sort of behavior?
I think it is clear that he is identifying himself as Chief Kessler. And then spouting wildly inappropriate comments raising legitimate questions about his judgment. Given his choice to make these statements under color of authority, I think he has shot a big hole in his claim of first amendment protection. More to the point, this is not an isolated incident. There is a well-documented and persistent pattern of disturbing behavior on display here. The video he was "apologizing for" is titled, "Chief Mark Kessler: Kerry & UN , can SUCK IT" If this was a movie, he would be a caricature and it might be amusing. But he is a real police chief, sworn to protect real citizens -- regardless of their political persuasion or sexual orientation.
7:32 AM PT: H/T to Habitat Vic for bringing up a previous published report of this guy shooting a dog. That is a surprisingly common problem these days, but in the comments there is this damning note regarding the Chief's proclivity for suppressing the first amendment rights of others:
The mayor and the police chief were sued and had to pay a guy for violating his civil rights, maybe the dog owner can get the same attorney.
From October 10, 2011:
"A Gilberton borough councilman sued the municipality, its mayor and its police chief Thursday in federal court, alleging they unconstitutionally caused him to be arrested and strip-searched for using profanity."
"The American Civil Liberties Union represented Councilman Robert Wagner, who alleged Chief Mark Kessler, at the direction of Mayor Mary Lou Hannon, improperly had him arrested for two counts of harassment because he made telephone calls to them complaining of youths riding quads and dirt bikes at late hours."
From January 10, 2012:
"Gilberton and two of its officials will have to pay $15,000 to settle a councilman's federal lawsuit that alleged he had been unconstitutionally arrested, strip-searched and imprisoned because he used profanity toward the mayor."
"Robert Wagner will receive the money as part of the settlement on Monday of his Oct. 6 lawsuit against the borough, Mayor Mary Lou Hannon and police Chief Mark Kessler."
