In fact, the dog days went into their doghouse and hid - we had a spectacularly beautiful day for our get-together. Come down below the fold and see who showed up, what we did, and - for the first time in the history of Daily Kos,
three (3!) kinds of pr0n in one diary!!!
We gathered; Kossacks with drinks in front of them are happy Kossacks! L to R: Design the Future, hayden, kathny, your humble diarist, plf515
The other side of the table was bathed in glorious sunshine. This was great for them, not so good for our intrepid photographer. Dramatically backlit, L to R: blue jersey mom, belinda ridgewood, and that Daily Kos fan.
Other partiers included
andgarden, who won the prize for the one who traveled the farthest to attend - he came all the way from Philadelphia! Honorable mention to folks who came from CT and NJ!!
...like thankgodforairamerica, who drove(!) in NYC(!)
Thanks as always to ask, without whose photographs this diary would not exist. Keep an eye out for more beautiful pix of Norway soon, since he's on his way back there for a while.
We had an exceptionally large camera-shy turnout, as well. Besides that DailyKos fan, upperwest and his utterly charming progeny were in attendance, and we even had a brief visit from Eddie C!
Design the Future and hayden smile pretty for the camera
plf515 discussing the mayoral campaign,
and of course I have to put in my 2¢.
Design the Future and hayden have some ideas about it, too.
Now for the moment I know you've all been waiting for: the promised pr0n! First up, we have something for all the organic gardeners and locavores out there: tomato pr0n!
That Daily Kos fan had complained that she couldn't find any good tomatoes; I visit my local Greenmarket every Saturday. And hey, it's August - how hard could this be? Thus was born the Giftmato, sort of the Marilyn Monroe of the tomato world. And after the reception it got, I plan to give tomatoes more often! It was such a hit that people took pictures of people taking pictures of it.
On to our continuing exploration of Spitzer's Corner's excellent menu(trans: food pr0n):
an avocado omelet. Those little doodads under the avocado are crispy tortilla bits. If I could figure out how to make them, I'd start a business selling them. They're that good.
my spinach, tomato, and goat cheese omelet. It may sound healthy but it tasted sinful. Scrumptious!
for the traditionalists, a bacon-and-cheddar omelet. I think I have to get this next time we're there.
Some folks decided that it was already lunchtime. A lamb burger suited belinda ridgewood...
...and plf515, clearly unafraid of his doctor, chose mac and cheese with a side of bacon.
Of course, no Spitzer's meetup would be complete without those fries,
and here's kathny enjoying some!
some more chat,
and then it was time to deal with the damage. Thanks to plf515's superior math skills, and kathny too; I'm hopeless at arithmetic (and now the whole world knows it).
I promised you three kinds of pr0n, and I meant it. I hereby present, with a hat tip to Land of Enchantment, the first NYC Meetup Shoe Show!!!
Blue ribbons and classy ankle adornments: that Daily Kos fan
Insane orange heels: thankgodforairamerica
"stand with Wendy Davis" orange sneakers: belinda ridgewood.
I guess I better pay more attention to my footwear next time!
