Casa Brillig is busy packing in preparation for our upcoming vacation to Portland (the other one) and Seattle (see, the "other" makes sense now, right?). We leave on the 9th, less than 4 hours after the kids finish summer camp, so everything has to be done by bedtime tomorrow evening. However, I could NOT let Top Comments go dark, and somehow the Calendar Gods had left a blank spot where tonight's diarist should have been. Follow me below the dingledoodle squigglie dKosagnocchi dividerthingie fold after a word from our sponsor...
Here at Top Comments we strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd & most informative commentary, and we depend on your help!! If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it either to topcomments at gmail or to the Top Comments group mailbox by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
Bill in Portland (not the other one, but the one I usually mean) Maine's birthday was this past Monday. When someone's birthday comes 'round on the calendar, he always bestows many blessings on their camels.
So what better way to take up the space where a diary would be if I'd had time to write one, than with a camel. Lo, a camel! A camel already in the dkos image library, even! So yay me, for finally figuring out how to use the image library!
We also could just call this an Open Thread, and get to the Tops :)
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything
without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do
not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From blue aardvark:
This exchange between boran2 and Roadbed Guy is excellent.
From
bronte17:
RFK Lives succinctly wraps our dilemma: the consolidation of the Security Industrial Complex with the rapacious Unitary Executive as its front man. "We didn't have a "Continuity" sign in our yard in 2008". From the diary post Obama: "We don't have a domestic spying program" by xxdr zombiexx.
From Crashing Vor:
Joan McCarter highlighted the GOP's dilemma re: including churches in Obamacare health insurance exchanges (hint: it's the Obamacare part). It's the Supreme Court Stupid clarified the theological underpinnings of the 'Pubs position
From Yours Truly, brillig:
In mcjoan's diary When tea partiers turn on one of their own, CenPhx asks what's next. Well, a Top Comments nom, to start with :)
In Jen Hayden's diary Michigan doctor arrested for purposely misdiagnosing cancer, Cali Scribe gets my nom for two parts of this comment... suggesting a way to recoup some of the fraudulent charges, and pointing out that the "GOP claims that it's the patients that are most capable of committing fraud."
