Rounding left turn on the street of my temporary occupancy - my early evening stroll partnered with my harnessed furry happy monster was coming to an end.
A low physical slow walk throughout an often quiet mid-western neighborhood. The 30-whenever_min. stroll is to decouple with inter-cranial adventures of memories. Shit to do. Thoughts past. Events present. My opportunity to stretch more than noodles. Escape the Graves'.
Observe the local world.
A distant sky event electrified my bulging eyes. As we headed S, the early evening sky was lit up with flashes of yellow lightening in layered multi-colored clouds. Benefit of doubled layered vision. A heated electrical storm? Yellow?! I cannot recall if I have witnessed a distant storm of colors like this before. Extremely active and very very exciting, just beautiful power.
We stopped & I watch. At least a couple songs long. The shafts of electricity went up, down, & side to side. Natures electric glide. Not really dance patterns of course. Random energy exploding in coverage of early night isolated summer storm clouds.
The same songs for the past couple years gently hummed in my R ear. Lazy to digi change. Occasionally I'll sing with Sublime. John Holt. Deftones. Mr. Hendrix. Not too loud. Try some of my favorite verses in a sticky thick slowly disappearing long hot spell. Summer region extreme.
Closer to "home" around two houses down I could pick up the scent.
Nano reminder - time to rake. Will help to fill weed & vegetable garden. Bucket for my Aunt's deer guests?
Bumper year! Crab apples. Images of the white flowering tree in the spring. Then those blossom smells. Brought last winter memories of a glued fresh stacked snowfalls. The cold. Briefly missed for now.
It approaches near the end of another season - on its own time as a short gimpy unmetered jaunt.
Those spring flowers had turned to small dense apples. So dense this season they pulled the branches to the ground. One main branch is now twisted, split and permantly coming down. The tree is hearty and will likely survive. It has endured tougher seasons?
Crab apples fallen fill the surrounding crispy grass, fermenting in the heat. Squish, pop under swollen feet. Scent the vicinity air pleasingly. Surprisingly not yet all rotten. Sour to eat? Try making jams?
Again, thankfully, another season of garden learning. I like these long lessons in an on-demand right-now world. Multitasking... pfft... save the ink.. pro resume axioms.. 2013. Lightening rocks!
Time’s up - walk "therapy" complete. Supine time now, again. Hurry; feet, toes swollen get elevated. Tingle like hot lightening. Red like crab apples. Back to my Graves'.
