I'm to the point where I can't listen to much more of this stuff, it makes my head want to seriously explode. Check this out and tell me if you agree...
That’s the problem in a nutshell; that some of our political leaders, too many in fact, have no idea what the average American goes through on a daily basis. If it wasn't apparent before this latest shutdown then it should be readily so now.
And we haven’t even discussed how many current office holders actually care about
the American people, especially Tea Party politicians.
That Congress will still be paid while over half a million Americans will lose their salaries for an undetermined amount of time, time I might add that a minority faction seems to be in no rush to shorten, goes way beyond wrong. It sits squarely on top of what we used to call FUBAR,” F____d Up Beyond All Recognition”.
And we’ll continue to go whispering down this same old tired assed lane as long as we continue to elect individuals that are not representative of the ordinary, everyday common man, such as ourselves.
A couple of “what if’s” for you:
What if Congress didn't already receive healthcare coverage paid for by the American people? Answer, we’d get a bill allotting healthcare to not only them but to all Americans quick, fast and in a hurry.
What if since the government is not functioning right now, it was deemed appropriate that Americans overall received some sort of refund on their tax liability at the end of the year for the total number of days government was shut-down? Answer, serious talks would occur immediately with concrete, actionable results and suggestions forthcoming.
And, what if not only Congressional but also all administration salaries, including the Presidents were halted and no back pay afforded once the shutdown ended? Answer, we’d have a solution by now and one that safeguarded against the possibility of a repeat shutdown, and subsequent loss of administration wages.
They never will be us until we start electing ourselves.
President Obama’s election was supposed to be indicative of that grand illusion: that any kid in America can grow up to become the “most powerful man in the free world”.
But the illusion hasn't materialized into any reality that can be readily embraced by the average American.
Instead, it’s an illusion based on the reality of we’re up here in Washington and you, poor unfortunate American souls, are down there with all the other people who mean nothing.
Today I learned that Head Start programs across the board are in jeopardy, again. As a budding senior, I can remember when Head Start began and the immediate impact it had on the lives of many kids across the nation, let alone on my block.
That those in Washington would allow not only Head Start but also other necessary institutions to slowly die only emphasizes their disconnect with what’s important to us as a people. Let’s wreck their misconception and get a government of leaders with ideas firmly rooted in the everyday reality that exists for most of the country.
