A Navy SEAL team seized a senior leader of the Shabab militant group from his seaside villa in the Somali town of Baraawe on Saturday, American officials said, in response to a deadly attack on a Nairobi shopping mall for which the group had claimed responsibility.

“The Baraawe raid was planned a week and a half ago,” said an American security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity about a classified operation. “It was prompted by the Westgate attack,” he added, referring to the mall in Nairobi that was overrun by militants two weeks ago, leaving more than 60 dead.

Details to follow, I'm sure. It is not known if the unidentified target was captured alive or dead, although "captured" kinda-sorta implies alive. The firefight evidently lasted an hour and involved helicopter backup (presumably for the SEALS?), so the odds are very high that someone got hurt.
Assuming that this person was in fact involved in planning the Westgate attack, kudos to those involved in finding him and in capturing him.
2:13 PM PT: Update: it appears the target was killed, and the SEALs had to withdraw under fire. I don't know how they would know they had killed the target if they couldn't reach his body.
