After a week of #GOPShutdown insanity this news junkie needs to shut it off or at least change the channel for a bit. Haven’t we seen enough of these sociopathic anti-government public servants and their teabag for brain followers to last until next election season? Let’s see what else we can find on this site…

Buried among the many Saturday morning group postings I came across an overlooked group KosKraft. KosKatalogue contributor meagert has been posting his creations along with insights and background on what is involved in their making. Today he gave a callout to other KosKatalogue members to join his group. A chance for artisans to share a behind-the-scenes look at how the products are made. He claimed to be “not very social,” so I thought I would amplify his call. Of course he’s probably not very sociable because he is in his shop punching leather all day, sounds scary. He did post photos of a handmade leather guitar pick-guard and a gun holster, neither of which I need, but I can still appreciate the skills involved.
Speaking of guns, the Firearms Law and Policy group continues to post well-written diaries on current laws and policies related to guns. This is a topic many here avoid because both sides of this debate tend to be very passionate and the comment threads often devolve into a pixelated gun battle. But this new group has avoided fights by focusing more on the effectiveness of policies and the reliability of studies, less on the sensationalism. So if you want to know if it is legal to carry your gun, securely placed in your new handmade holster into a neighboring state, you could read LilithGardener’s diary on Reciprocity. Other topics include “Stand Your Ground” laws, defensive gun use studies, among others.
On the topic of “Stand Your Ground” laws, Florida’s Dream Defenders are going to the UN! Consisting mostly of college students outraged by the Trayvon Martin shooting and the questionable verdict in the Zimmerman case. These youngsters first took their message to the Florida Legislature and after building coalitions with groups like NAACP; they are now sending a representative to the UN.
Legal & Policy Director, Ahmad Abuznaid, has been granted a scholarship to present our Stand Your Ground report to the United Nations in Geneva next month, as part of the UN's review of the United States' commitment to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

See, plenty of stuff to dwell on besides the shutdown and the real question is… Where? Why? What?
Where is Chrislove? Why is that damn plumber harassing us on a Saturday? And what did Glen do with Chris? Worry not people, Chris and Zoe will return in two weeks. His beau is in town for the weekend, surely he is cooking up a big pot of his Matzo-ball Pho or something of the sort. I’ll be in and out tonight, the neighbor’s 40th birthday party is next door. But please leave a comment, I promise to reply to each with a personalized insult.
