Since September eighth I have looked at the tags of every diary posted. About half of new diaries now have no obvious tagging errors. I've uppercased thousands of tags in the database. When I find a misspelling I check and if it's been misspelled before I link or synonym the misspelled version to the correctly spelled tag and it will never happen again.
I believe that I am making substantial progress and that tags are more attractive and more useful.
The first column is the number of times a tag has been used. The second and fourth columns are the number of tags used at least that many times as of the date at the top of the column. The percentage in the third column is the fraction that have only been used that many times as of September eight. I didn't recalulate.
Half of all tags have only been used once.
Ninety percent of all tags have been used fewer than twelve times.
Ninety nine percent of all tags have been used fewer than 200 times.
