To no one's surprise the nihilists in Congress have painted themselves into a corner, and turned this debacle into The Alamo. This is extraordinary. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.
My expectation is the Kamikazi Congress is going to dig in until default looms and the Executive is forced to act in defense of the full faith and credit of the United States. At that point, they will scream for impeachment. You need to pre-emptively cut off that avenue of attack.
Mr. President, you went to Harvard. You were president of the Law Review. You have taught Constitutional Law. You have voiced your opinion on more issues than Justice Thomas. You know the Oath of Office better than Justice Roberts. I think you can hold your own against the acerbic wit of Justice Scalia. You are more than qualified to argue a case in front of the Supreme Court.
Five years ago, when I wrote Doubting Obama, I threw my lot in with you based on the following conclusion:
I realize that for some, the nagging question of whether he is too good to be true or not will always remain. The truth is you can scour Obama's words and actions from here to the end of time and they will never serve as portals to his soul. Fortunately, that is not necessary. We are not seeking to canonize a saint. We are seeking to hire a chief executive we reasonably believe will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of his ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
I still believe that is true, despite all the differences and disappointments along the way. Now we are at an historic cross road. Given the inevitability of the conflict, it is time to prepare and act proactively. Rather than hand the opposition a knife to stab you with, I suggest you grab the bull by the horns and bring this problem to the Supreme Court, yourself. This is not for your Solicitor General. This is not for your Attorney General. This is a battle that you need to lead and win.
Although this conflict has been planned for months, we know it has been brewing for decades. I am confident your legal advisors have been working on this for some time. If not, you have the wrong advisors. Best estimates give you a little less than two weeks to prepare. I suggest you prepare to take this to the Court Monday, Oct. 14th. This gives them a day or two to think it over and provide their ruling.
Armed with a Supreme Court ruling in your favor, you will slay the Gadsden dragon of the Tea Party fanatics so we can replace their Teabonics with a functional Democracy.
Take the fight to them and don't back up. Nothing back there will help you.
Good luck and Godspeed.
