Texas, it is the quickest key to all problems. Win, lose or draw,  2014 is the key to the future of the entire world.
If we lose, I believe that it will be so close that it will destroy the Republican party here indefinitely.
Then comes the presidential election where the big vote comes.
 2014 is shudderingly vital.

We can discuss this and wonder what to do about that, but in the end, the ONLY thing that matters is voter turnout. Ya CAIN'T go to the dance if you AIN'T bought your ticket! Go team go.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I'm not from Texas, but I like seeing these diaries about you guys fighting to take your state back from the wingnuts.

If Texas goes blue, that is BAD news for the teabaggers--and good news for all of us.

And you are absolutely right--you can't win if you don't play!  I'd love to see other southern red state democrats going all-out against the republicans like you are in Texas...though North Carolina democrats look pretty good to me too!

Texas is turning bluer by the day, and can make a HUGE difference in turning the political tide. I lived there for the past 6 years and can tell you that there are many Progressives working hard to register voters, support candidates, turn out the vote, and fight efforts at voter suppression.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Don't stand by and watch the evolution to Bluebonnet blue! Politics is a contact sport, not a spectator sport!

Sadly, the Dem National Committee has been using Texas as its ATM for far too long. They shake down deep-pocket Dem donors in TX, and use the money elsewhere where they think the odds of victory are better.

If you can donate, please direct your $$$ to a particular candidate.

If you can help register voters of phone bank from other states, that would be great! Texas needs your help and as the diarist says, it's the fastest way to make a HUGE difference!

about 1 in 10 Americans, cassandracarolina. the problem is that down here the local news on all four networks hews to the Murdoch line, and the preachers actually tell people you'll go to hell if you vote for Democrats (or Obama, or Clinton ....)

We need all the help we can get, lest Greg Abbott roll his wheelchair into the Governor's Mansion and the world end in all five flavors as Big Oil and the Wal-Mart Economy win.

Agree, though: If you can, send $$ to Wendy Davis. And to Randy Neugebauer's opponent (please!). Don't send it to the DNC / DLC / national Dems. Send it to real Dem Candidates.

There have been precious few times when elections really meant much one way or the other. 1863; 1932; 1994 and 2010 come to mind. And, yes, I would add the elections of President Obama. It's hard to deny that didn't shake things up.
I don't think it is a stretch to consider Texas' potential in the upcoming elections as critical either way.

But I've seen exactly the same thing said here in 2008, 2010 and 2012. And probably before that as well, I just don't remember. The 'entire world' part is a stretch too.

              potentially possible.
Regarding that region, it was a nobody shooting another guy that touched off WW1. What are the odds on that? Sure, he was an arch-duke and a convenient excuse for mayhem, but who'da thunk.
Let's say that Texas goes, either, blue or purple in 2014. That would be a massive change in America. Everything, and I do mean everything, is realigned. The pendulum has definitively swung to the left. Yes, I'll say it, a legitimate domino effect, regarding ideology and all that flows from that, would ensue in the twinkling of an eye. America, being the biggest boy on the block, touches all corners. An entire world would have to readjust.
All of this because one state, battered for decades by Republican strong-arming, decided that enough was enough. If you've followed the change in attitude here since Wendy Davis(she of the pink slippers)filibustered these clowns, I think you can see why we're all so excited.
              Thanks

you take it one section at a time. Texas has not been Republican all that long and the potential for Democratic votes is enormous.
They could win and win big. They need to get Howard Dean in there. Everyone said that he couldn't do the 50-state strategy
--"too big" -- he did it.
