First, Mars candy is not made by union workers. Second, the billionaire family that owns the Mars candy company has been leading the fight to repeal the Estate Tax, and so is a threat to democracy.

Fortunately, there are many candies that are made by unionized workers.

This here link gives a list of candies that are made by union workers.

There are lots of good candies here! So, there's no need to buy non-union candies.

As for Mars and the Estate Tax: the Mars family has a number of billionaires and has been leading the lobbying effort to repeal the Estate Tax. See, for example, this Wikipedia article

Many members of the Mars family think that they should be handed billions of dollars without having to work for it.

Kind of like welfare, except they don't call it that.

Not only that, but they think they should get this money without even paying tax on it.

Of course, the rest of us both have to work for the money we earn, and we have to pay tax on it.

Allowing the super-wealthy to pass along billions of dollars to their heirs, tax free, would set up a permanent aristocracy of inherited wealth and power. Didn't we have a revolution against that back in 1776?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
