DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too!
My quild had its biannual quilt show recently. It is a judged show, and I thought I’d share some of the winners, and some of my favorites with you. Follow me past the orange cheese doodle.
Best of Show:
This quilt is inspired by the quilt exhibition Infinite Variety: 3 Centuries of Red & White quilts. http://www.folkartmuseum.org/... dearjane.com & sentimentalstitches.com decided that if they couldn’t make their favorite quilts from the exhibit at least they could make a sampler quilt using blocks from their favorite quilts and published them as a free BOM as Just Takes 2.
Best Hand Quilting:
The appliqué is impeccable, but the hand quilting is exquisite.
Judge’s Choice:
A selection of winning art quilts:
Here’s a close up of the pottery. The background was quilted, then the quilted pottery was sewn onto the background.
This feathered star is hand pieced and hand quilted. Look at how the cable turns the corner.
Christmas wall hangings were very popular and used a variety of appliqué techniques.
And my vote for Viewer’s Choice, another feathered star, this one quilted on a domestic.
I hope you enjoyed the show.
And as always, what have you been working on?
