It's that time of week again. Sunday, and another burble about my life.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
It's blistering cold here. And dry. I found some earmuffs at Ross Dress for Less when I stopped by on Friday after going to Barnes & Noble to pick up the book my granddaughter asked for that I'm giving her for Christmas. It was the first time my ears had been entirely warm for days.
Last weekend my daughter volunteered hers to help me mop my floors after I had spent much of Thanksgiving weekend scraping cat puke off my floors.
The grandkid came over Saturday morning and it took us about an hour to get it all done. I had already finished the bathroom floor, and had her do the hallway and under the dining table with a spray bottle and some rags; then for the living room and the rest of the dining area, I mopped and she used my Swiffer to dry.
When we went back to my daughter's place, I learned what was going on with my granddaughter's mention of cleaning my cat box. Her mother has promised her a dollar if she comes over and cleans it of a Saturday. I can deal with that, especially since I don't have to pay the dollar, and my kid is going to take my word about its having been done. I am going to have to spring for a scoop with a shorter handle, though - my granddaughter is too small to get proper leverage using the one I have.
My daughter wanted to do some shopping, so after cleaning the cat box, my granddaughter stayed at my place for a few hours. I think my kid wants my cat to get used to another person - once he got used to the idea that my granddaughter was going to be here for a while, he actually took a nap, so this will probably be relatively painless.
I read her a couple of chapters of Talking to Dragons, and we sorted out what second variety of cookies we will make during the Christmas/New Year break - gingerdoodles for sure, and I discovered in one of my Amazon Kindle freebies, a recipe for homemade Oreos, which she liked the idea of trying.
She also got settled on Youtube and found several My Little Pony adventures to watch.
I still have grocery shopping to do. Coffee and paper towels for the most part - I used up the last of both this weekend (just because he only pukes once a week or so these days doesn't mean he's stopped entirely). Also cat food and more litter and another scoop.
My adventure for the coming week is to try to get somebody to figure out why I can get hot water in my bathroom sink but not in the bathtub or the kitchen sink.
