Happy Holidays from the west coast! Some photos of the Yaquina Bay Bridge and Bay Front.
A few photos of the Lighted Boat Show at Yaquina Bay:
As I shopped the following day after the Lighted Boat Show I ran into the man standing near Santa (wearing the blue and black jacket). I asked him what was up with Santa? Why wasn't he very jolly? He said that Santa had a sore throat from shouting Ho Ho Ho too much. Awe.
Shooting from a dark pier covered with snow and ice with people walking by makes it difficult to capture clear shots. At one point I was bumped into. Had to grab and steady my tripod. Oy. Shooting at night requires a tripod and a safe place for it.
No matter how you are spending your day, I hope that your are spending it with the ones you treasure and respect. In turn, I hope that they treasure and respect you.
During the holidays the stress levels and domestic violence increases. If you need help call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). Advocates are available 24/7. All calls are confidential and anonymous. If it is an emergency call 911.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (Intimate Partner Violence or Battering)
Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, women experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes every year. Less than 20 percent of battered women sought medical treatment following an injury.
Domestic Violence = Power and Control:
The reasons why men, and sometimes women, beat their partners boil down to two words: Power and control. For whatever reason, the abuser’s need for absolute power and control over his partner drives him to violence. The event that makes him snap could be anything that he determines makes him seem “less” in his partner’s eyes or in front of his children.
