Good morning! Welcome to the DKos Sangha weekly open thread.
This is an open thread for members of the DKos Sangha and others who are interested in discussions concerning how we integrate our progressive political activism into our spiritual practice. If you have observations about the political discourse of the week, or about practice, or about anything else related to walking a spiritual path through the political world, if you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do; this space is for you.
If you would like to write a diary for the DKos Sangha, please let me know.
If you care nothing for spiritual practice and only wish to denigrate and disparage, please do so elsewhere, and respect that this is a community diary for the DKos Sangha.
Thank you to all who have been joining in the Monday night group meditation here at DKos Sangha. This week Ooooh is planning to post the diary at 7:00 Eastern, with the meditation period to run from 7:30 - 10:00. This group sitting is open to beginners and advanced, and is not restricted to any particular traditions or practices. It is not expected that you sit for the entire period; sit for as long as you like, when you like. The idea is that we are here together; supporting each other, holding space for each other.

It is one of those mornings where the clouds reach down to the street below, hiding the houses beyond it, and the ridges beyond them. I've washed some dishes and made coffee. The house is warm. It is peaceful and quiet.
The solstice has passed, the holidays almost done; and there is a tendency for year-end reflection, followed by a look forward to what the new year may bring.
There is a stillness that is at the core of our being; and within this stillness there is movement. We look back at the past year; we tend to compare our experience now with where we were twelve months ago. And we look forward, anticipating where the flow of events may take us.
But it is within this stillness that all that has happened, and all that will happen, occurs. It is always here. As our experience of this stillness grows deeper, as it becomes more pervasive in our every day life, we move through this world more at ease, more at peace.
As our society marks this annual period of self reflection, as we turn the calendar, as the days begin growing longer, moving toward the new year's spring, it is an opportunity for us to appreciate the stillness, with wonder, with gratitude, with compassion for ourselves and all beings.
May your new year be full of joy.
Namaste
