It's just that they don't know what yet. The possibilities are endless.
Want the GOP House to pay THEIR bills -- well you better make it worth their while.
Republicans to Seek Concessions From Obama on Debt Limit
by Derek Wallbank and Kathleen Hunter, bloomberg.com -- Dec 18, 2013
With a U.S. budget deal behind them, Republicans now plan to extract something from President Barack Obama in exchange for raising the nation’s debt ceiling.
They just haven’t decided what yet.
[...]
“Every time the president asks us to raise the debt ceiling is a good time to achieve something significant for the country,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said yesterday. “The debt ceiling legislation is a time that brings us all together and gets the president’s attention.”
Hey McConnell -- Everytime your Party
says No to raising Revenues on the Wealthy, is "a good time to achieve something significant for the country" too.
How about cutting the Corporate Subsidies for Fossil Fuel dealers, Mitch?
How about asking those Wall Street speculators to give back just a tiny fraction of their great wealth, back to the struggling nation from which they have extracted it?
Those are "good times to achieve something significant for the country" too, GOP.
Afterall the wealthy have more to give back than the poor. Remember what Willie Sutton said ... "you need to go where the MONEY is ..."
But the GOP's future standard-bearer tells us more plainly:
“We don’t want nothing out of this debt limit."
Strike when the Bills are Due, eh Mr Spreadsheet?
Never let a chance to pay YOUR OWN bills go by without a Deadbeat Protest, eh Mr fantasy-camp VP?
Paul Ryan Says GOP Wants Ransom For Another Debt Ceiling Hostage [Video]
by Ryan Grim, huffingtonpost.com -- 12/15/2013
[...]
"We as a caucus -- along with our Senate counterparts -- are going to meet and discuss what it is we’re going to want out of the debt limit," Ryan said. “We don’t want nothing out of this debt limit. We’re going to decide what it is we’re going to accomplish out of this debt limit fight.”
Ryan said the party will make up its mind on its list of demands at a coming retreat. "We’re going to meet in our retreats after the holidays and discuss exactly what it is we’re going to try to get for this," he said.
The president has said that he will refuse to negotiate around the debt limit, and that it is Congress' obligation to pay the debts that Congress itself ran up.
[...]
"... discuss exactly what it is we’re going to try to get for this."
Here are a few possibilities, Mr Austerity-cheerleader:
-- Hold out there like a carrot to a mule, those expired Unemployment Benefits.
-- And there's always more Food Stamps to take away from under-fed and hungry children.
-- And don't forget about your perennial favorite ploy Paul, you can take away affordable Health Care from 47 million Americans.
Just a few of the GOP Ransom-Demand possibilities ... long as you're going to "get something" for paying the nation's bills, that Congress ALREADY authorized.
It's such a monumental burning problem after all:
[...]
Republicans want further spending cuts as the budget deficit’s share of the economy falls to its lowest level since November 2008. The deficit was 4 percent of the gross domestic product as of Sept. 30, down from a high of 10.1 percent in February 2010.
It will bankrupt the GOP someday, if they keep this up.
Keep making their Deadbeat Demands,
while refusing to ask Corporations and the Wealthy to give something back, to their boundless land of wealth-harvesting opportunities ...
