Anti-choice organizations are attacking the Girl Scouts and spreading propaganda that claims the Girl Scouts are allied with Planned Parenthood, promoting lesbianism and communism, etc., etc., ad nauseam.

Here's the flier they're handing out.  Note the name they bought for their website,
"mygirlscoutcouncil.com", conveniently registered through a domain privacy service in Provo, Utah:

Excerpt (click on the link to see the flier):

Girl Scouts’ curriculum for girls, sold and promoted by every local Girl Scout council, recommends pro-abortion role models/organizations such as Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, Amnesty Intl., Population Council, ACLU and National Organization For Women (NOW)

This isn't the first time the rabid right has promoted their easily refuted deceptions about the Girl Scouts.  I suspect they "borrow" from fellow whackos when they're looking for a seemingly fresh talking point to propagate to their followers.

Last year (2013)

Girl Scout Cookies: Proceeds Promote Lesbianism, Planned Parenthood And Communism,
Warns Kevin Swanson

Kevin Swanson, a pastor and host of the Christian radio show “Generations,” went on a diatribe Monday, blasting the Girl Scouts of the United States of America as an instrument of feminism and “antithetical to a biblical vision for womanhood.” He added that buying Girl Scout Cookies is tantamount to supporting Planned Parenthood, abortion and lesbianism.

...He cautioned, however, that promoting an organization that empowers women to think for themselves is the quickest way to ensure that -- you guessed it -- communists will seize control of the U.S. government.

Although it's often difficult to trace this sort of propaganda back to its inventor, my bet is on this notorious organization:
January 17, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - When our sweet little neighbor in her brown camp uniform came knocking on our door this year, we had to say no. I told her mother that I didn’t want to hurt Katie’s feelings, but I couldn’t support the Girl Scout cookie sale anymore because I’d learned too much about the organizers’ agenda, primarily their support for abortion and partnership with Planned Parenthood.http://www.lifesitenews.com/...
Perhaps I'll make my own flier to have ready for them.  I'll simply quote from their Bible:

- "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." - the ninth of the Ten Commandments

- "There are six things that the LORD strongly dislikes, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers." - Proverbs 6:16–19

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
