What's not on schedule outdoors where you live?
Today it is overcast. There haven't been any real cloudy days around here for weeks. The days have been in the upper 60's to mid 70's. The nights have been warmer than usual for weeks as well. That means anywhere from the upper 40's to as high as 55 degrees.
BTW, this is January. It's supposed to be winter in California. I did something I've never done since I moved to California in 1978, and that's water my gardens. I did it this past weekend. All I wanted to do was keep our perennials alive that's all. I hadn't watered anything other than plants in containers since November.
Another super cold arctic air mass is blanketing the mid-west and great lakes area. This is the second one this year. Houston is going to have their second winter weather alert. They don't have many of those.
We have plants starting to bloom out here that don't bloom normally for another 3-4 weeks. This is not good. I'm including some pics I took today for proof of what I'm saying. At least they say we have a "chance of rain" on Wednesday and Thursday before going back to sunny warm days and warm nights again.
These are White Violets blooming. Actually this is their normal blooming time.
Periwinkle is an early bloomer, but it's 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
This is Candy Tuft which is blooming a good three weeks early.
This Daffodil is blooming a good 2-3 weeks early.
Manzanita shouldn't be blooming this early.
Come on! Chinese Fringe Flower blooming in January?
Alyssum blooming in January? Not right at all.
Rosemary is an early bloomer as well, but it's 2 weeks early.
Below are two indoor plants blooming right on time. These are two of my orchids:
So what's either right or wrong with the weather where you live?
