Wow. Not even sure if I should comment on this editorial in today's Fort Worth Star Telegram. It reads like something from the 1950s. But since this is not April Fool's Day, I have to assume that the writer, Cynthia M. Allen means what she says---which is, basically, that men are sex craved by nature and will attempt to force women, who are sexually adverse by nature, into having sex at any cost. And that availability of birth control enables the date rapists to have their way with the lesser, fairer sex.
No kidding.

Oops. Fixed the title. Monotonous to Monogamous.
Highlights from this article:
"Sexual marketplace": and no, she is not talking about prostitution. Don't you remember what you were taught during the Eisenhower era? Men want sex. Women use sex in order to get men to marry and take care of them. If a woman "gives it away" then she is forcing down prices for her sisters.
"The path to freedom is being more like a man and less like a woman." And women, in the author's opinion, do not like sex. Not unless it comes with a wedding band and kids.
"Campaign to encourage female sexual license." Oh my. Did not I read that in a Victorian era guide for the virtuous young woman?
"The risks of "sexual freedom" will never be identical to those of their male counterparts": Because if a condom breaks, the women has the baby but the man only has to pay child support? Because only women can get STDs? Because having a baby gives women stretch marks but not men? Come on, honey, please spell these risks out for this 50 something year old woman. How have I gotten to this great old age without realizing that their are hidden risks to sex for women but not to men?
"Our societal change in sexual attitudes may actually contradict human nature, at great detriment to women." Is she talking about that brief period between 1930 and 1970 when the Motion Picture Code tried to convince us that married couples slept in separate beds? Or, is she talking about the rest of human history, in which women and men were both enjoyed sex?
"Contraception and abortion often exacerbate this problem." You mean men, those brutes, would think twice about date rape if they did not have a condom in their pocket?
"Behavior...that women normally do not engage in." What? You thought your mother had sex and that was how she had you? Wash out your brain with soap immediately!
Lest you think I am taking things out of context:
In the changing sexual marketplace, women increasingly accept the male preference for casual flings over monogamous relationships because they have run out of choices.
As one student put it, in a dating paradigm where men have the control, women “stop expecting that they’re going to get a boyfriend.” Instead, they just give in and conform to men’s desires, often eschewing their own natural tendencies.
In an effort to gain power through sexual liberation, many women find themselves less liberated and more confined to behaving in a certain way, as they are pressured to deny their nature in the same contemptuous manner modeled by many feminist leaders.
I realize that poking fun at a piece like this is a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. But at this vary moment, some young woman is holding this article up for another young woman and saying "See! Sees! It says right here in the paper that any woman who wants to have sex is unnatural. So don't you dare carry a condom. If you have sex, pretend that it is spontaneous and keep your fingers crossed that you don't get pregnant." In other words,
