There is something about the Clintons that
drives these people insane.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Monday that when it comes to Hillary Clinton, Republicans will have a “truckload” of material to use against her, and it’s all fair game.
Priebus said recent, repeated comments from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Texas) bringing up President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky as a critique of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are legitimate.
Let me let America in on a little secret: It is Reince Priebus' job to declare that all of the various crackpot theories and brain farts and winter storms of Ungodly Stupid that come from his party are, despite suggestions to the contrary, "legitimate." It is very literally his job, or at least the public part of it, and whether Reince Priebus lives to fight another day or has the word
formal prepended to his job title depends on how earnestly he can declare it.
If Rand Paul declared tomorrow that Hillary Clinton was in league with the lizard people, Reince Priebus would sigh, and then he would drink, and then he would book himself on all the Sunday shows to say that Rand Paul's questions about Hillary Clinton and the lizard people were legitimate things to ask, because reasons, and because, in a party that exists for no discernible self-consistent ideology other than determining who to be most afraid of and why, Bill and Hillary Clinton are the cornerstones of conservative pants-wetting terror. They are to conservative pants-wetting-terror what the pyramids are to Egypt.
“I think everything’s on the table,” Priebus said on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on Monday. “I think we’re going to have a truckload of opposition research on Hillary Clinton, and some things may be old, and some things might be new. But I think everything is at stake when you’re talking about the leader of the free world.”
Mmm-hmm. Well now, won't that be fun. Can't wait to see how low journalism can sink
this time around. All
legitimate, of course.
