This is a short diary, though not as short as a bumper sticker. I invite all who are interested to write about their own favorite bumper stickers or bumper sticker issues.
For awhile, in Georgia, a new bumper sticker appeared. It read "SHIT HAPPENS"
I thought it was the most philosophical bumper sticker I had ever seen. Then the Georgia legislature--which is a temple of purity and righteousness--received complaints from their pure and righteous constituents and made "SHIT HAPPENS" illegal.

My neighbor, who had a "SHIT HAPPENS" sticker, just tore off the first two letters, so his message was now " IT HAPPENS." I thought that was pretty philosophical, too. Another young man in Atlanta decided to defy the law, and thanks to his efforts the law was declared unConstitutional.
My best friend's car is covered with liberal bumper stickers. For awhile when I was having car (or no car) trouble she kindly loaned me her vehicle. Since there are no stickers on the car I own, I would drive hers absent-mindedly wondering why some people were giving me polite little honks and others were giving me the finger.
During election season I am amused by people who put large (usually Republican) candidate bumper stickers on their vehicles and then drive like asses.
My daughter works at a job that takes her all over the state. Her rule is no bumper stickers on any vehicle she drives. I think that is wise. Back when George Wallace was governor of Alabama my sister-in-law was nearly run off the road because her sticker supported Wallace's opponent. I noticed that during the 2012 presidential election there were many fewer political bumper stickers in my area than in previous election years. I think some people had safety concerns.
So here are some of my favorites: "Eve was framed", "My Karma Ran Over My Dogma", in small letters: "I AM ODO" (Deep Space 9 reference), "Support Your Local Police--Commit Crimes Out of Town". I especially like the "Co-Exist" bumper sticker with all the religious symbols. I think it is so clever.
What are your favorites?
