Hi again beer fans, and Happy Friday! Grab a cold one and come talk about beer with us.
If you checked the site this morning you saw beer news on the front page: California Drought Affects Beer
In California's Sonoma County, Lagunitas Brewing Company... makes its beer with water from the Russian River, a 110-mile waterway that provides drinking water for more than half a million people.
But in the wake of 2013, the driest year ever recorded in California, Lagunitas' owners say they're nervous about shortages that could mean a switch from the river water to not-as-tasty well water.
San Francisco's
21st Amendment just announced plans for a big new brewery in San Leandro (near Oakland); they're betting on water being available. Like San Francisco, the East Bay brings their water from the Sierra; probably more reliable than the Russian River.
And pizza news goes great with beer news, so have a slice: The Army's quest for MRE pizza.
Pizza is one of the most requested items when soldiers are asked every year what they'd like to see in their rations
. It's not an easy task since the requirement is a shelf life of 3 years at up to 80F.
I'm finally brewing again this weekend! Let's see if I can get a simple pale ale made without forgetting anything. Meanwhile I've got some Sam Adams. What are you drinking? Who else is brewing?
