I sometimes think that I am not alone in thinking that the evolvement of the internet and political blogs have served to give off or emit, odors or vapors of racism and ranging from many of the things we see today on-line and on television. But more so, to my dismay - racism at a time when this country is in the midst of discontent over it.
What I personally find odious today about the Web/Media is how easy it is for folks like Ted Nugent and racists like him to get face time on tv, blogs and other venues where he has tremendous support by many white folks where the discontent is centered and focused.
By him, I mean other racists and bigots that see him as a fighter for the white race, against those not like him. Folks who know me and my writings here in this community should know that this piece I am writing here is about certain people and not about you. I have seen no reason for that. You should also know that I am not a White man nor a Black man. But believe me, I can smell racism from miles away if the wind blows in my direction.
The face of Racism`s history in America in living color
We are all familiar with Ted Nugent`s poster boy image for blasphemy rants against our Black President.
A week after cancelling an appearance of the Erin Burnett show, musician Ted Nugent gave an extended interview with the CNN host where he compared President Barack Obama to rapists, murderers, and child molesters and took credit for getting Piers Morgan’s “ass thrown” off of the network.
Last week, under siege for his comments referring to the President as a “subhuman mongrel”, Nugent backed off with an apology stating, “I do apologize–not necessarily to the President–but on behalf of much better men than myself.”
"But on behalf of much better men than myself ” I thought??!!??
Asked by Burnett if he meant it, Nugent replied, ” I bet you understand that the question is, do you apologize and I answer yes. You don’t really have to ask that question again, do you?”
Having said that ‘mongrel’ “was a street word”, Burnett followed up, pointing out that the only place she found the term ‘mongrel’ used in that context was on the Aryan Nation’s membership form. And speaking of racism discontents.
“The only use of the word ‘mongrel’ that I could find in common talk, because you’re talking about street talk, was actually the Aryan Nation membership form where you have to affirm, quote, ‘I’m an employed white and Christian. I concur the Aryan Nations is only Aryans of Anglo-Saxon, Germanic, Nordic, Basque, Lombard Celtic and Slavic origin,’ Burnett read. ‘I agree with Aryan Nation’s biblical exclusion of Jews, Negroes, Mexicans or Orientals and mongrels.’”
When told that the street word `mongrel` was only found in common talk was actually in the Aryan Nation membership form, Nugent spoke the following words that I have long known to be true: "The Texas Rangers and the racism they dispense in Texas".
Nugent went on to say that he had served as a police officer in Lake County, Michigan and that he had been involved “with the DEA and ATF and U.S. Marshals and the FBI and Texas Rangers and heroes of law enforcements.”
“And we are re-arresting fugitive felons let out of their cages after murdering and raping and molesting children, carjacking. And we keep going after these guys,” he stated. “The adrenaline is something like you will never experience, I hope you never have to experience it, but when we are done with these kinds of raids, we get together and our hearts are broken that we have to face these monsters. We call them mongrels. We call bad people who are destroying our neighborhoods mongrels.”
If you have lived in Texas prior to the sixties, and even after that, you have heard of the "Los Rinches" (the rangers), as we used to refer to them back then. These Texas lawmen were the closest Ku Klux Klan arm there was if ever there was one.
Thier racists terrorisms were aimed primarily at Hispanics and all with brown skin throughout the Southwest of Texas and lynchings were tolerated by these men, who wore a large shiny "Texas Ranger" badge with honor. I can still get a whiff of those Rinches in reading what Ted Nugent views as honorable, to his people. Or better said, people like him.
Stung by criticism from CNN hosts Wolf Blitzer and Don Lemon that his comments appeared to be racist, Nugent told Burnett he is not a racist and accused her network of propaganda.
“But for anyone to claim that I’m a racist or it had racist overtones is the typical crap that the propaganda ministry and the media, particularly most of your cohorts there, even though I got Piers Morgan’s ass thrown out and I’ll do the same with Don Lemon and Wolf Blitzer when I can.”
You see what I mean? The power that social media and the Net gives to suckers like this one.
