Great news for House Speaker John Boehner! After spending more than a year doing things like shutting down the federal government, scheduling endless votes to repeal Obamacare, and blocking immigration reform, a minimum wage increase, and emergency unemployment benefits, Boehner
is very pleased with how things are going:
"I think I'm in better shape with my own caucus than I have ever been in the last three years,” he told the Enquirer.
That may be true, but is it really something to brag about? Last I checked, House Republicans were about as popular in America as Vladimir Putin. Speaking of which, Boehner has
some thoughts on Ukraine:
“It’s time to stand up to (Vladimir) Putin,” Boehner said, calling the Russian leader a “thug.”
“At what point do you say enough is enough? We are at that point.”
Okay, if we're at that point, then what does Boehner want to do? He won't say, of course. But he doesn't think he has to, because his caucus loves him. Which is the only thing that matters.
Until November 2014, that is.
