Nowhere -- except in the Constitution's very first section:


The Constitution of the United States -- Article I, Section 8

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
[emphasis added]


If providing for clean air, clean water, and safe food -- doesn't "provide for the general Welfare" -- then I don't know what does!?



Governor CPAC says: "Nowhere does it say Congress has the right to federalize health care."

Nowhere -- except in the Constitution's very first paragraph:


The Constitution of the United States -- the Preamble.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
[emphasis added]

If providing for affordable health care for those who need it -- doesn't help "insure domestic Tranquility" -- then I don't know what does!?


Only in the land of far-ranging subsidized home-schools, would Conservatives argue that 'Government has no place in educating its citizens'.

Unfortunately for them our Constitution actually puts a very high priority on "promoting Science and the Arts;" our Constitution encourages Inventors and Writers and the progress of Scientific Discoveries:


The Constitution of the United States -- Article I, Section 8

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;
[emphasis added]


If our government were prevented from "promoting Science and the Arts," as Governor Perry urges to those cheering ditto-heads at this year's CPAC -- THEN where would all this "Progress of Science and useful Arts" come from anyways?  ... from the voucher-funded Creationism-indoctrination schools, that teach that "Science is foolishness," and even worse.

Only in a CPAC'ers fantasy-camp, Constitution-ignorant, rollback-society, privatize-everything dreams.
