When the state legislature passed a law banning all medical abortions except those necessary to save the mother's life, it was Governor Rounds who signed it into law. Voters rejected the law, overturning it by referendum on Election Day, but those voters still re-elected Mike Rounds to Governor at the same time.
Now Democrat Tim Johnson is retiring from the U.S. Senate and former Governor Rounds is running to replace him. Fortunately, South Dakota voters have a much better choice in Democrat Rick Weiland.
Rick is a populist fighter running a campaign against income inequality. He's fighting to raise the minimum wage, get money out of politics, break up too big to fail banks and jail the Wall Street insiders who destroyed our economy.
Rick Weiland is running a winning campaign, but he needs our help to make sure every voter in South Dakota hears it.
Volunteer to help Rick Weiland beat Republican extremist Mike Rounds now.
Can't volunteer? Beat an anti-choice extremist by contributing $3 right now to send a progressive to the U.S. Senate.
As the former FEMA Regional Director and then State Director for the AARP, Rick knows what it means to lead and the work it takes to get the job done. So when Rick says he'll fight to expand Social Security and allow access to Medicare for All, he's got the track record to take that fight on and win.
When it comes to beating Wall Street in Washington, Elizabeth Warren can't do it alone. She needs allies in the Senate willing to stand with her, take on the tough fights, and never back down.
She needs Rick Weiland. That's why Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have each endorsed Rick and contributed to his campaign. Now it's our turn to back them up.
Contribute $3 to back-up Senators Warren and Sanders in sending a populist progressive to the U.S. Senate.
Working together, we will win this.
