Hi, there. Me again.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
I had a doctor appointment at the end of February, and some bloodwork ordered. The results finally all showed up. My blood sugar level is down 8 points from last year - however, they've recalculated the normal range, so I am STILL just above the high end of normal. Cholesterol could be better, but also improved from last year.
During the actual appointment, the nurse took my blood pressure - 140/80. Ten minutes later, my doctor took my blood pressure - 132/80. I think the doctor used the large cuff - I am certain that when she took it, it didn't hurt.
Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 (I do check for new emails just before I clock out), I found a notice that one of the doctors peripherally involved in a study I am supposed to schedule patients for had arranged for one to come in the following morning. I got 20 minutes of overtime I really didn't want, trying frantically to get the echo machine required and make sure the two people who really needed to be there were notified. Neither of them read their emails that night. It turned out that the subject couldn't stay as long as needed for the echo machine that is supposed to be used so other arrangements were made and the woman who did the echo and I got yelled at because the wrong ultrasound probe was used. We yelled back - nobody had told us anything about needing a specific probe (or where it was), and getting stuck with last minute arrangements all around was not fun.
Friday I was walking through the main hospital lobby area on my way across campus to pick up my boss's paycheck and heard my name called. It was my niece, her husband and their daughter. He had just finished a procedure (his color got discernibly better in the course of the few minutes I talked to them) and the little girl had an appointment a couple of hours, more or less, later.
My niece have me a couple of messages for my daughter, and when I stopped by her apartment as I was getting home, to deliver them, my grandson greeted my with "The doctor is going to fix my wee-wee." Apparently, he has a relatively common problem that requires surgery and it is scheduled for April 1.
My mother got cataract surgery on her second eye that day as well, and apparently had texted several people afterward that she was home, doing fine, and going down for a nap. She called on Saturday and confirmed.
My ankle is working as it should now, though it still hurts a bit. My chiropractor worked on it Saturday morning and said it's doing fine. I do not plan to try to run for the next several months - she said that was a good idea. My next appointment will be the last of the day instead of the first, because my next appointment is scheduled for my daughter's birthday and I'm taking the offspring out to breakfast that day.
The Shamrock Run is scheduled for today. Fortunately, I do not have to be anywhere near where it is happening, though I have heard it is the most fun of the races that happen around town.
