Yesterday, GF and I took a stroll around New Orleans' City Park, our town's gigantic, intra-urban paradise. Donated to the city in 1854 by the Allard family, it is one of the country's largest in-town parks and an endless source of delight.
I took a few photos I thought I'd share here for friends in less vernal climes, to reassure you that spring is, indeed, on its way.
We hung mostly in the Botanical Gardens
where the orchids are busting out in the tropical greenhouse
Alligator gar hiding in the Living Fossils greenhouse
A leisurely walk through the tea garden
Quick stop at Morning Call in the old casino for coffee.
Over the "Japanese" bridge
And a stroll along the lagoon. Palmettos cypress knees and...
Oaks and moss and oaks and moss and...
