Received this e-mail from U.S. Senate Chris Murphy (D. CT) in support of his colleague, Senator John Walsh's (D. MT) re-election bid:
It's not easy showing up as a Senator in the middle of a term. But when Montana Democratic Senator John Walsh was named to finish Senator Max Baucus' term last month, he hit the ground running. He's the first Iraq War veteran to serve in the Senate, and he's going to be my strong ally in our work to protect social security, support American manufacturing, and reset America's reputation in the world.
But he has a tough fight on his hands in Montana, because as soon as he was sworn in, he had to get moving on his first election campaign. He asked me for help, and I told him I knew a few people who would be willing to step up and help him.
Because here's the plain truth about this November's elections:
If Democrats have any chance of holding onto the Senate, we can't afford to lose in Montana. If we do, we're almost certainly looking at a Republican Majority Leader with the ability to block any potential for progress in President Obama's final two years.
John is squaring off against Tea Party Congressman Steve Daines who voted to escalate the nuclear standoff with Iran, voted for the government shutdown, and believes there is "still debate" about whether climate change is real.
The choice is clear and the stakes are enormously high, so please join me in contributing $5 to Senator Walsh's campaign ahead of next week's critical end of quarter deadline.

Nate Silver projected Republicans would take control of the Senate by just one seat, and recent polls in the state all show a close race with Senator Walsh slightly behind, but gaining steam as more people get to know about him and his Tea Party opponent.
And because elections in Montana cost a lot less money than most other states, your contribution will go further towards ensuring we retain our majority than almost any other race you can give to in 2014.
That's why your donation is so important, and why I just made my own. You should do the same:
