Enough already! That's the message from Democrats on the House Government Oversight Committee to Rep. Darrell Issa who shows no signs of relenting in his politically motivated "investigation" of Benghazi.
They say that after 18 months, Issa's probe is nothing more than a politically motivated witch hunt driven by GOP panic about 2016 and Hillary Clinton. It's not that Benghazi was an unimportant chapter in history, it's that (a) there have been a million inquiries into Benghazi; (b) at this point, Issa is only looking to score political points; and (c) pressing forward is a waste of money and time.
For evidence of that, you need not look beyond Issa himself, who said early this year that he hopes to "shape the debate for 2016" with this promise:
“I will get to the top of Benghazi and that’s where we have to go,” he said.
And then, to prove his point, Issa
went on to accuse Hillary Clinton of personally ordering the U.S. military to abandon Benghazi. Scandalous if true, but in reality completely false—and a reminder that at this point, the biggest Benghazi scandal is that
Republicans like Issa continue to burn money and squander resources chasing a conspiracy theory that has no merit.
