Our liberal media at work (via Buzzfeed):
White House officials sought valuable primetime air for a rare, impromptu Tuesday night address to tout the accomplishment of signing up more than 7 million people under the Affordable Care Act.
But network officials refused to make the kind of accommodation they did previously for the announcement that Osama Bin Laden had been killed, for instance, and Obama was left instead cutting into the much smaller audiences of Ellen and other daytime shows.
Yeah, the White House message machine on Obamacare (among other things) hasn't been as finely tuned as we might like, and the law itself is big and unwieldy which makes it hard to explain.
But let's just appreciate just what they're up against here.
The right has its own cable network, which is also the highest rated cable news network to get out its disinformation. They dominate AM talk radio.
It's now clear that the traditional media has not only been neutered and cowed into silence and equivocation by the right. They're active participants with the right. It's not just them either. Every morning when I check my email on Yahoo the home screen is full of Obamacare horror stories. Same for Google News.
Before, the President at least had the megaphone provided by the primetime slot. But not any more apparently. So if you wonder why the Bully Pulpit ain't so bully any more, there you go.
