Still think that we have a liberal media?
Of course not! You have a better understanding of United States political structures than 95% of the U.S. population. You have internet access and a reasonably good reading comprehension.
But only rarely do we get to see this kind of blatant omission from our news sources. Thank goodness for MSNBC and Chris Hayes who provided the only cable news coverage of the most important study on U.S. politics in decades.
Video and discussion below the squiggly
The study by Gilens and Page is titled,
They performed a rigorous 20-year policy study of the United States and compared them with an exhaustive review of opinion polls to determine just how effective public discourse had on the direction of U.S. politics.
the result?
When the preferences of economic elites and the stands of organized interest groups are controlled for, the preferences of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.
however, there has been absolutely no mainstream media coverage. . .
none at all
Just goes to show:
Without a 100% complicit media, the rule of Oligarchy is completely impossible
it is really about time we start to look at the forces that dictate media complicity to the rule of oligarchs in this country
I was trying to link the MSNBC video but it didn't play. here is a link to the segment:
