I'm not old but I feel my age slowly increasing. I don't have patience like I used to.

Someone the other day was arguing that vaccines caused autism. I called him a prat decorating his anecdotal experience with science-y words for evidence, and said his years of uneducation were manifesting in his current stupidity.

Another woman was arguing the same point, and I said she should be shunned, because her advice was life threatening to innocent people.

Then someone else entered the argument and said I must be a Communist for saying she should be shunned. To which I responded he couldn't tell me the difference between Communist, Socialist, Authoritarian and Totalitarian. That he couldn't tell the difference between state sanctioned censorship versus community revulsion to an idea, and that his inability to make a sound argument was more than enough evidence that he should be made victim of charivari.

I mean I don't really want harm to anyone, I just don't have time to waste breath and words with people who'll argue that government and state policy should be dictated by anecdotes and personal experiences, especially while saying they don't trust doctors. Look dude, maybe there's reason to not trust some doctors, but my GP didn't spend a century in the business coming in at all hours on request because he was in the pocket of 'big pharma'. He just wanted to make sure I got my vaccines so I wasn't suffering whooping cough.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
