Lynne Cheney, wife of Dick, mother of Liz and Mary, is doing the publicity rounds for a new book. And that means
questions about her family's political future (gag):
Q: Your daughter Liz had run for the Senate nomination in Wyoming. Do you think she will run for office again?
A: I sure hope so. She is a great candidate and, you know, the family was going through some crises. It's now evened out. She did exactly the right thing to turn her attention to some difficult situations, and she'll do exactly the right thing, in my opinion, if she runs for office again. She'd be a terrific candidate and a terrific representative or senator for us.
Does "it's now evened out" mean "Liz won't attack her sister's family and
praise herself for having 'always tried to be compassionate' toward them despite their icky gayness" or does it mean "Mary won't fight back when Liz attacks her family"?
Because, sure, Liz blamed her withdrawal from the Senate race on unspecified "serious health issues" in her family, and her poor fundraising had to be an issue, but you know the public family feud played a role. As for where Liz would run for office in the future, according to Lynne, the carpetbag has been unpacked in Wyoming and there it stays. Next time Liz runs for office, she will have lived in Wyoming for, gosh, a year or two at least.
